Caption: Light micrograph of a transverse section through the flower bud of a buttercup, Ranunculus sp. , showing several mature anthers. Each anther is bilobed, each lobe containing two pollen sacs filled with pollen grains (dark dots). The partitions between adjacent pollen sacs are just beginning to break down prior to dehiscence, when the sacs will split to expose the pollen. Magnification: x36 at 35mm size.
