Caption: Light micrograph of a transverse section through the mature anther of a lily, Lilium sp. , showing twin pollen sacs filled with pollen grains. Intricate patterns can be seen on the surfaces of some of the pollen grains. Anthers are bilobed structures, each lobe containing twin pollen sacs; this image shows only one of the two lobes. The partition between the two sacs has broken down prior to dehiscence, when the sacs will split to expose the pollen. Magnification: x36 at 35mm size.
