Caption: Star formation. Optical image of the young Herbig- Haro object HH-34, the small object at upper centre with the prominent bright jet. The jet is dense gas ejected at high velocity by the new- formed star. HH-34 is 1500 light years from Earth near the Orion nebula. This image was made using the Very Large Telescope 'Kueyen' at the Cerro Paranal Observatory, Chile.
