Caption: Optical photograph of 47 Tucanae (NGC 104), a bright globular cluster in the constellation of Tucana. The cluster is one of the closest known. It lies some 16 thousand light years away and has a diameter of around 210 light years. 47 Tucanae is one of the many globular clusters of older stars which lie in a spherical "halo" around our galaxy.
