Caption: Optical photograph of NGC 6522 and NGC 6528, two globular star clusters which lie in the constellation of Sagittarius, near the centre of our galaxy, the Milky Way. Globular clusters are roughly-spherical objects containing hundreds of thousands of old stars. They are found scattered in a spherical halo around many galaxies, including our own, and came into being while the galaxies were still forming.
