Caption: 70 Virginis B planet. Computer illustration of the giant planet 70 Virginis B around the star 70 Virginis. Three moons are seen around the planet, and a thin ring stretches to far left. Lightning flashes are seen on the planet's dark side at right. 70 Virginis is a Sun-like star which lies 59 light years from Earth in the constellation Virgo. The presence of this huge planet, with a mass 6. 6 times that of Jupiter, was inferred from the wobble its orbit imparts to the star's motion through space. It has a highly eccentric orbit and orbits its star in just under 117 days at an average distance of around 64 million kilometres.
