Caption: Tau Gruis extrasolar planet. Artwork of the Jupiter-like planet that orbits the star Tau Gruis (not seen), seen from the surface of one of its hypothetical moons. Tau Gruis is a Sun-like star that lies around 109 light years from Earth in the constellation Grus. The planet orbits the star at a distance of around 387 million kilometres, around 2.6 times the Earth-Sun distance, or about half the Jupiter-Sun distance. It is thought to have a mass 391 times that of Earth (around 1.2 times that of Jupiter). This situation is more similar to our own solar system than the majority of extrasolar systems discovered, which have a huge planet orbiting very close to the star.
