Caption: Eskimo nebula. Colour-enhanced optical image of the Eskimo nebula, NGC 2392 (or PK 197+17.1). This is an irregular disc planetary nebula, seen in the direction of the constellation Gemini. The nebula is about 2930 light years (900 parsecs) from Earth, and is expanding at a rate of about 54 kilometres per second. This image was gathered by the Keck Telescope, Hawaii, in 1990.
