Caption: Bumblebee (family Bombini) prising open a snapdragon (Linaria triornithophora) to feed from the nectar within. In doing so it will pick up pollen from the flower and deposit pollen it has already picked up; some is visible as a fine dust on its abdomen. Each pollen grain contains a male gamete which, when deposited on another plant of the same species, can fertilise an ovule and produce seeds.
