Caption: Cyclamen anther (Cyclamen sp.), coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). The anther of a plant sits at the top of the filament and comprises part of the stamen (male reproductive part). It produces pollen, which contains the male gametes. Insects landing on the flower carry this pollen from plant to plant, brushing against the ovaries of other flowers and thus enabling fertilisation.
