Caption: False colour image of Galaxy M81, made in red light by the 4-metre telescope of the Kitt Peak National Observatory, USA. M81 is a spiral galaxy of class Sb, and is located within the constellation Ursa Major. Even in this false- colour image, the structure of the spiral may only just be made out. More detailed structure may be seen in other wavelengths. Compare with UV image SPL Ref. R856/032.
