Caption: Local Group galaxy cluster, diagram. The galaxies are shown relative to our spiral Milky Way Galaxy (lower centre). The concentric circles are 500,000 light years apart, and lines show the positions of galaxies above or below the Milky Way's galactic plane. The largest galaxies are the Milky Way and the spiral galaxy Andromeda (M31, upper left). The smaller spiral galaxy M33 is just below and right of Andromeda. The other galaxies are much smaller elliptical or irregular galaxies and they are mostly clustered around one of the two larger galaxies.
