Caption

Local Group galaxy cluster, artwork. The galaxies in the Local Group, cluster around the two largest galaxies, our Milky Way (lower left) and Andromeda (M31, upper right). These and another galaxy, M33 (centre right), are the only spiral galaxies in the Local Group. The rest are small elliptical or irregular galaxies. The Milky Way is about 2.9 million light years from Andromeda. The Local Group is bound together by gravity. In about 6 billion years time, Andromeda and the Milky Way may collide.
