Caption: Hoverfly pollinating a centaurea flower. This hoverfly is feeding on the pollen of the centaurea flower (Centaurea dealbata 'John Coutts'). Whilst feeding the insect will inadvertently be powdered with pollen. When it visits a flower of the same species, it will deposit the pollen allowing cross-pollination of the flower to take place.
