Caption: First Soviet jet rocket. Soviet engineer Igor Merkulov (right) and Soviet chemist Vladimir Abramov (left) working with Merkulov's jet rocket. This rocket, a small-scale version of later models, was the first jet rocket developed in the Soviet Union. It used an air ramjet for its second stage.
