Caption: Repulsor rocket launch site, Germany, circa 1931. The Repulsor rockets were one of the later designs built by the German Verein fur Raumschiffahrt (VfR, Spaceflight Society). The VfR, which was active from 1927 to 1933, carried out pioneering work that laid the foundations for space flight. This one-stick Repulsor rocket is at the Raketenflugplatz launch site near Berlin. The Repulsor rockets were the most successful of the VfR rockets, reaching a height of over 1 kilometre.
