Caption: Monkey being prepared for spaceflight. Miss Sam, a female rhesus monkey (Macaca mulatta), being placed in a container in preparation for spaceflight. She has also been fitted into a fibreglass couch. Miss Sam was launched on the Little Joe 1B rocket on 21st January 1960. She survived an 8 minute and 35 second flight. Photographed on 4th December 1959.
