Caption: Astronaut Eugene Cernan (1934-2017) photographed in orbit during the Gemini 9 mission. Gemini 9 was launched on 3 June 1966, carrying Cernan and Thomas Stafford. The spacecraft made 45 orbits of the Earth, during which time a rendezvous was made with an Agena target vehicle. Cernan also made a two-hour spacewalk. Gemini 9 re-entered on 6 June 1966, after a flight of 72 hours. This photograph was taken by Stafford.
