Caption: Apollo 13. Apollo 13 spacecraft being moved for final mate to the launch adapter at Kennedy Space Centre, USA, prior to take off. The central cylindrical section is the service module, which contains the liquid hydrogen and oxygen fuel tanks. Above this is the cone-shaped command module, which contains the astronauts' quarters. Apollo 13 was launched on a mission to the Moon on 11 April 1970. The mission was aborted after only 56 hours due to the explosion of an oxygen tank. All three astronauts returned safely to Earth.
