Caption: Apollo 12 mission. Saturn V rocket being carried on a transporter in preparation for the Apollo 12 mission, the second manned mission to land on the Moon. The 109-metre tall rocket was carried 5.6 kilometres from its assembly building to a launch pad at less than 1.6 kilometres per hour. The veh- icle, launch tower & rocket together weigh about 9000 tonnes. Apollo 12 was launched on 14 November 1969 from the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, USA. Aboard were astronauts Charles Conrad, Richard Gordon and Alan Bean. The lunar module arrived on the Moon in the Ocean of Storms on 19 November 1969. The astronauts returned to Earth on 24 November 1969. Photographed on 8 September 1969.
