Caption: Launch of the space shuttle Discovery, mission STS-26, from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, on September 29th 1988. It was the first shuttle mission since the Challenger disaster in January 1986. The crew consisted of astronauts Frederick H. Hauck, Richard O. Covey, George D. Nelson, John M. Lounge, & David C. Hilmers. Discovery returned to Edwards Air Force Base near Los Angeles on October 3, 1988.
