Caption: Launch of Mission STS-65. Shuttle Columbia clears the launch tower at the start of Mission STS-65 of 8-23 July 1994. Columbia carried the second International Microgravity Laboratory (IML-2) in its payload bay, allowing many experiments in life and materials sciences to be conducted in the microgravity of orbit. The crew of seven for the flight included Japanese physician Dr Chiaki Mukai as payload specialist.
