Caption: Space shuttle Discovery photo (mission 51-A, the 14th shuttle flight) showing astronaut Dale A. Gardner, with astronaut Joseph P. Allen reflected in his visor. The eight day mission (8th-16th November l984) saw the retrieval of two stranded communications satellites (Palapa B-2 & Westar VI), which were returned to earth for repair. The "For Sale" sign held by Gardner is a humorous reference to their status. A portion of each of the two retrieved satellites is visible at lower right. Two new communications satellites (Syncom IV-1 & Telesat H) were also deployed during the mission. 10x8 colour print of same from Karl Esch S19-104-049.
