Caption: Astronaut Jerry Ross seen during an evaluation of the Crew and Equipment Translation Aid (CETA) on Shuttle Atlantis on Mission STS-37. CETA is one of the devices being tested for use on the proposed Freedom Space Station, and uses a mechanical cart to move astronauts or loads along a fixed beam. Ross' feet are attatched to the cart by the metal straps around his boots. In the bottom right corner is the open door to the airlock, leading to the Shuttle's mid-deck. Mission STS-37 was launched on 5 April 1991 with the primary task of deploying the Gamma Ray Observatory (GRO) satellite for NASA. The mission ended safely with a landing on 11 April 1991.
