Caption: Personal computer in space. Astronaut Marsha Ivins using a personal general support computer onboard Shuttle Atlantis. This is a small 'lap-top' type computer, used in some experiments and for general housekeeping purposes. It may be operated independently, or may be interfaced with the main computers (IBM AP-101S). Ivins is seen here wearing a headset, allowing her to communicate with ground controllers. Note also the effect of microgravity on Ivins' long hair. This photograph was taken during Mission STS-46 of 31 July to 8 August 1992.
