Caption: Shuttle space walk. Astronaut James Newman seen during an Extra-Vehicular Activity (EVA) period on Shuttle Mission STS-51. Newman is seen trying out a portable foot restraint. This item was being tested for use in the STS-61 servicing flight to the Hubble Space Telescope. Mission STS-51 flew on 12-22 September 1993. The primary tasks of the mission were to launch the ACTS communications satellite, and the deployment and retrieval of the free-flying ORFEUS astronomy package.
