Caption: Shuttle pilot. Eileen M. Collins, mission pilot and the first woman to pilot a space shuttle, sits in the flight deck of Space Shuttle Discovery during mission STS-63 (3-11 February 1995), when Discovery made a close rendezvous with the Russian space station Mir in rehearsal for the first shuttle-Mir docking in June 1995. To her left is the cockpit window (black) with the head- up display (yellow) currently showing a map of the world. This picture was taken during a "hotfiring" procedure to clear leaking thruster prior to rendezvous with Mir.
