Caption: CHASE - the Coronal Helium Abundance Experiment - deployed on a pallet aboard the cargo bay of the space shuttle Challenger during the Spacelab 2 mission (51F) which was launched on 29 July 1985 and landed on 6 August 1985. CHASE, one of two UK experiments carried on Spacelab 2, was built by groups at the Mullard Space Science Laboratory, London, and the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory to carry out spectroscopic studies of the solar corona at extreme ultraviolet wavelengths.
