Caption: Common Horse Chestnut. Close up view of the nuts of the Common Horse Chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum). The seeds may be ground and used as a type of edible flour. If roasted, however, the seeds yield a substitute for coffee which acts as a tonic. The most common use for the seeds, however, is the children's sport of 'conkers'.
