Caption: 'Buran' space shuttle training aircraft. This full-sized mock-up of the Russian 'Buran' space shuttle was used to conduct approach and landing training for its pilots. It is powered by four jet engines (near the tail), and was flown 24 times between 1985 and 1988. Although this vehicle was aerodynamically identical to 'Buran', it had none of the pressure compartments and rocket motor systems of the real shuttle.
