Caption: Seed pod of Majidea zanguebarica. The open capsule (red) resembles a brightly coloured flower. It is attractive to birds, which eat the seeds (black). As a seed passes through a bird's digestive tract, the tough outer seed coat is weakened, thus aiding germination of the seed when it later passes out of the bird in its faeces. M. zanguebarica is native to tropical Africa.
