Caption: Devil's claw seed pods. The devil's claw plant (Proboscidea louisianica) produces seed pods with large hooks that cling to the fur of animals. Each pod contains about 40 black seeds, which are gradually released as the hooks split apart. In this way, the seeds are dispersed far from the parent plant. Devil's claw is also called the unicorn plant or ram's horn. It is native to North America.
