Caption: Oil terminal storage tanks, Canvey Island, Essex, UK. These tanks have been pressurised and are used to store liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), one of the products from the refining of crude oil. Petroleum gases are used as a fuel in a similar way to natural gas (mostly methane). Wytch Farm oil field, situated in Dorset, UK, is involved in supplying the terminal with oil. Photographed in 2005.
