Wave energy converter. Diagram of an oscillating water column (OWC) wave power plant. This coastal energy converter consists of an inclined concrete cavity connected to two low pressure air turbines (red) with its opening below the water level. As waves cause the water level in the collector to oscillate, the variation in water level alternately compresses and decompresses the trapped air above causing air to flow backwards and forwards through the turbines, which generate electricity.
