Caption: Photovoltaic cells on house roofs. These houses are part of a 1MW (Megawatt) BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaics) demonstration project in a new Dutch suburb. BIPV systems are photovoltaic systems which are designed and constructed along with the building. The extensive project includes a school, sports centre and a nursery. It has been assisted financially by the EU. Photographed in Nieuwland, Amersfoort, The Netherlands, in June 2005.
