Caption: Fireball and "mushroom cloud" formation following the detonation of the World's first atomic bomb in the desert near Alamogordo Air Base, New Mexico, on July 16th, 1945. The test detonation was codenamed "Trinity" and was followed 3 weeks later by the dropping of a second atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan.
