Caption: Low-level nuclear waste. Worker using a circular saw to cut up and dismantle equipment that has been used in the nuclear industry. All components used in the nuclear fuel cycle must be disposed of properly, according to their level of radioactivity. This is low-level nuclear waste, which is only slightly radioactive. It is sorted and incinerated or melted down, and then stored in barrels or metal ingots. This is the Centraco factory, in Marcoule, France. Photographed in 2004.
