Caption: Low-level nuclear waste. Workers using glove boxes to sort equipment for disposal after use in the nuclear industry. All components used in the nuclear fuel cycle must be disposed of properly, according to their level of radioactivity. This is low-level nuclear waste, which is only slightly radioactive. It is sorted and incinerated or melted down, and then stored in barrels or metal ingots. This is the Centraco factory, in Marcoule, France. Photographed in 2004.
