Caption: 'Richard the First', a research robot seen at the 1990 Robot Olympics. This robot was designed to study the way people may sense sounds in three dimensions. The robot has two microphones for binaural hearing, and two TV cameras for stereo vision. The 'eyes' and 'ears' have been placed at the same positions as found in an average human head. The robot was designed by Ketil Undbekaen (left) at Glasgow's Turing Institute.
