ADAM constructs its terrain model from scanning laser rangefinder data, and uses complex computer algorithms to plan the best way toward its objective. Later versions will utilise stereo video data in the terrain model. ADAM was built by Matra Marconi Space and FRAMATOME on a Russian Mars rover chassis.
