Caption: PSA robot. Researcher Yuri Gawdiak holding a model of the PSA (personal satellite assistant) robot. This robot is designed to be able to fly autonomously through a spacecraft in zero gravity (microgravity) conditions using its own propulsion system. It is able to continuously monitor air temperature and pressure, content of oxygen and carbon dioxide and bacterial growth. It also has a camera which allows astronauts to video conference with each other. Such robots will allow astronauts to carry out their work without having to monitor their environment themselves. Gawdiak works at NASA's AMES research centre, California, USA.
