Caption: Robotic hand control system. Researcher using a master/slave robotic hand system. The 'slave' is the robot hand (upper left), that is programmed to respond to and imitate movements by the 'master' hand (glove system, centre) that is controlled by the human operator. This allows easy and intuitive control of a robotic manipulator. One application is working in dangerous areas exposed to radiation or toxic chemicals. This research is being carried out at Graaltech, a company founded by researchers from the University of Genoa, Italy, to develop robot applications.
