Caption: BabyBot robot head cover being placed over the robot's head. The two eyes are looking through the eyeholes, and the fibreglass cover is lit up from behind. The BabyBot is a humanoid robot developed at the LIRA-Lab at the University of Genoa, Italy. The original BabyBot project, which started in 1996, has been constantly modified. The aim is to investigate sensory and control systems, how they interact, and find out what this can tell us about human brains and how they develop. The eyes have cameras designed to collect light in a similar way to human eyes. The head has stabilising gyroscopes that allow compensatory eye movements. It also has ears so it can react to sounds.
