Caption: NEC 9A mobile phone, dating from the 1980s. This mobile phone, manufactured by the Japanese company NEC, was launched in the UK in 1987 at a retail price of GBP 1795. At the time, it was one of the smallest and lightest mobile phones on the market. It is now a rare example of a 1980s 'brick' mobile telephone. It operated on one of the early mobile networks, called ETACS (Extended Total Access Communication System). The full model number is NEC TR5E 1320-9A.
