A hybrid chip consists of several components mounted on a ceramic substrate and connected by wires. Although the components are separate, they must be connected together to work. Here, a micromechanic acceleration sensor (bar, right) is connected to a processor (larger rectangle, bottom) and other components. This sort of circuit is used in the automobile industry as a sensor for triggering air-bags in an accident. Magnification x2 at 6x7cm size.
