Molecular semiconductor research. Technician examining thin films of molecular semiconductors grown by organic molecular beam deposition (OMBD). This is a technique in which functional semiconductors are arranged on a surface by firing molecules onto it. Many electronic components that are traditionally made using inorganic materials, such as silicon, can also be made using large organic molecules, such as phthalocyanines.
