Bar code. View of a bar code label. Bar codes are used to label products and store information such as what the product is or how much it costs. The data held within the bar code can be 'read' by a computer using a light source. If the computer is unable to read the code, the information can be manually entered into it using the number code below the bar code. This computer storage of information makes stock control easier.
