Wearable computing. Researcher wearing devices that are linked to a portable computer. Informa- tion is relayed to him by displays on the inside of the Private Eye display unit mounted on his glasses. The Private Eye uses a liquid crystal display to create a monochrome image. Data is entered through a hand-held Twiddler device (lower left) which combines the functions of a keyboard & computer mouse. The lightweight computer and power supply are mounted on the man's vest. Such "wearable computers" can constantly cater to the wearer's needs and may soon be used in a variety of practical applications. Photographed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA.
