The Web is a global network connecting thousands of host computers for the free exchange of information. Information on the page is stored in the form of hypertext documents - text documents which have other data (such as pictures or links to other host sites) embedded in them. Web data are read using a browser program to automatically connect the user to other host computers. The Web was created at CERN, the European particle physics laboratory near Geneva, starting service in 1989.
