Caption: Wearable computer. Researcher wearing a visor and other parts of the Sulawesi computing system. This system aims to define protocols for speech control and networked input, adaptable for future uses. It also includes a visual output (visor). It is smart and proactive, sensing the environment to change its operational mode or remind the user of tasks. The Sulawesi system is being developed by Adrian F. Clark and his team at the University of Essex, England. Wearable technology aims to develop and integrate computing and mobile phone technology, to design new interfaces, and to miniaturize the devices so that they are worn as naturally as a watch is today. Photographed in 2002.
